Questions parents and teachers ask

Is the Robot Maze really free?

Yes. Every level, lesson plan, certificate and printable is free to use at home or in class. There are no accounts, no ads and no in-app purchases.

What age is the Robot Maze for?

It is designed for kids aged 6 to 12. Younger children can play the first world with an adult reading along, and older kids can aim for three stars on every level and read their solutions in Python.

Does my child need to sign up or download anything?

No. It runs in the web browser on laptops, Chromebooks and iPads. Progress is saved in the browser on that device, and nothing about your child is collected or sent anywhere.

Can I use it for an Hour of Code session in class?

Yes. Each world works as a 45-minute lesson, and there is a free lesson plan for every world with learning objectives, discussion questions and answer keys. You can link straight to any level, like dotcodecampus.com/maze/mrt/3, to put it on the projector.

What will my child learn?

The four building blocks of every program: sequencing, loops, conditions and functions. Each of the five Singapore-themed worlds introduces one, and the last world puts them together.

Is block coding real coding?

Yes. Blocks are a way to write a program without worrying about typing and spelling, and the ideas are exactly the same. Press "Show me the Python" on any level to see the same program written as real Python code.

What can my child do after finishing the maze?

Build their own games. At DotCode Campus, kids aged 7 to 12 make and publish their own Roblox games, and teens learn Python and AI. Every course starts with a free trial class.
